GCS Custom Shop
and Current Availability

What if we took all that is great about the GCS production guitars and used that as a platform to create one-off, next-level boutique instruments? What if we implemented upgrades typically reserved for custom builds, allowing for more flexibility in design and options? These simple questions sparked the genesis of the GCS Custom Shop.

In our quest to explore the full range of possibilities, we started with a batch of GCS guitars "in the white"—that is, unfinished, unfretted, and unmachined for hardware and electronics. With our decades of experience as players and builders, we set out to create guitars infused with a higher degree of artisan-inspired interpretation.

We've introduced traditional nitrocellulose lacquer along with modern eco-friendly finish materials in a broader palette of colors, each applied in a thin satin coat. Some guitars are reliced for a naturally worn-in feel, while others are what we call "pre-reliced"—clean for now, but with a finish so ultra-thin it will develop natural character over time. The result? A livelier, more resonant instrument that offers both a satisfying sonic and tactile experience.

Along with upgraded wiring harnesses, we're including our new pickups. Handwound in-house by Bill Comins himself, these are something truly special. While the stock GCS pickups are already fantastic for many reasons, the Custom Shop pickups have a bit more of an old-school, P.A.F.-inspired tone with remarkable warmth, clarity, and depth. The vintage character is undeniable, offering a rich, dynamic response that feels very expressive in your hands.

Each GCS Custom Shop guitar is one-of-a-kind in its finish, hardware, and tonal character—a singular creation meant to be played and cherished at home, in the studio, or on stage. Due to the detailed craftsmanship involved, availability is extremely limited. Each Custom Shop guitar is sold direct-to-consumer, and while we’re unable to take custom orders at this time, we welcome suggestions for future builds based on your dream features.
